A great start in Rome to the founding international conference, the “Global Network of Rainbow Catholics“
Most of the day was spent travelling, so not much more actually done today except for introductions and chat over dinner – but even the introductions were inspiring. We have people from all continents except (Antarctica), including representation (direct ot indirect) from eight African countries. There could even have been more Africans, but several delegates had last minute refusals of their visa applications.
In addition to the notable geographic spread, their was also diversity of demographics and background. There are gay lesbian and also bi delegates, straight allies, parents and a grandmother of gay men or lesbians. We have a wide range of ages and professions, and both laity and clergy – including a bishop, who will celebrate the closing Mass for us. It all promises to be a rich and rewarding three days ahead.
Pictures will follow.
